Justin Brenis – Editor-In-Chief
Former Editor-In-Chief of The Grown-Up Geek’s now defunct sister-site, Pixel Perfect, Justin is excited to be back for another go’round.
A proud, self-proclaimed geek, Justin started down this road a long time ago when he first got his hands on an NES controller at two-years-old. Since then it’s been the ride of a lifetime, and includes everything from Marvel/DC, LOST, and a unique interest in how video games are slowly becoming an art form.
His current geekdoms include: Doctor Who, Arrow, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Batman Arkham Knight, and geeky covers of Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk.
Jared Reiman – Head of Media Production
Like all great men in history, Jared is a podcaster. It’s been said that he is the Hacksaw Jim Duggan of podcasting.
Jared is the Director of Media Production and as such, anything video or audio that you love was done by him, and if anything sucks he will be quick to let you know that it’s someone else’s fault.
Teresa Cambria Brenis – Lifestyle Editor
Teresa combines her loves of all things geek, cooking, fashion, interior design, crafting and DIY into The Grown-Up Geek Lifestyle section.
She belongs to more fandoms than she can count, and has even extensively studied Harry Potter from an academic standpoint. She enjoys incorporating geeky touches into every day life, and she hopes her enthusiasm and creativity can help others confidently express their geek side in many different aspects of their lives!
Her other jobs include being student of ancient history and religion, and raising a tiny geekling and her two cat sisters.
A founding member of The Grown-Up Geek’s late sister-site, Pixel Perfect, Jonathan is excited to once more unto the breach with dear friends; especially as this allows the use of Shakespeare in a bio.
If it sounds like a song, or looks like art, and it is on this site, chances are it was done by the creative beast.
A self-proclaimed champion of Geekquality, Mr. Killstring has long labored both for acceptance of geek culture within the mainstream zeitgeist, and acceptance of others within it. His geek cred includes providing art for the video game Shadowrun Chronicles, adventure design for the tabletop RPG Nova Praxis, and a lot of half-finished dubstep remixes of classic NES tunes.
He feels it important to note that the sobriquet “Killstring” comes from his time as a touring musician, wherein he broke a lot of guitar strings, not any real or imagined skill at online deathmatch shooters. He strongly cautions anyone considering teaming up with him, as his presence is strongly correlated with victory.
For the other team.
Aubrey Fisher – Lead Writer
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Aubrey is a freelance writer and amateur cosplay model. Co-creator of web comic Rabzilla with her partner, artist Craig Tucker, she continues to move forward on independently publishing the graphic novel they have long collaborated on.
She also created the review blog In Beta, which is now a part of The Grown-Up Geek network, in order to provide honest reviews with a touch of quirky humor.
Devin Miller – Senior Media Editor, Podcast Contributor
Devin is an OG podcaster and all-star sidekick to Jared. He has been known for giving up quickly on games he doesn’t understand but is down to try anything. With Devin’s minimal experience in the field, he also attempts to edit audio and video clips (because writing articles is too much work). When Devin is avoiding doing work, you can catch him online yelling about Halo or trying to survive in Ark.
Travis Redding – Staff Writer, Podcast Contributor
At the age of eight Travis became afflicted with a condition; this lifelong condition causes him to acquire more video games than he will ever have the time to play. Thankfully, it’s served him well both in his free time over the past twenty five years and as a writer for The Grown-Up Geek’s progenitor Pixel Perfect.
His other loves include reading, watching movies, dancing awkwardly to niche music, and reveling in modern technology.
As someone who spreads his geeky interests across so many realms, he takes pride in his ability to be critical while at the same time never forgetting that entertainment is meant to be fun, first and foremost. Travis is always on the lookout for some cool or interesting new piece of media to learn about, experience, and suck as much enjoyment out of as possible.
Dan Conlin – Staff Writer
Long ago, Dan acquired his first video game system, and has not looked forward since.
As a self-proclaimed “person”, he strives to one day have his own radio show. But for now, writing about video games is pretty rad.
As a once-writer for The Grown-Up Geek’s former sister-site, Pixel Perfect, he hopes his experience will help him achieve everlasting glory.
Otherwise, he’ll settle for a few fart jokes.
Bryan Ritchey – Staff Writer
When not ranting about the destruction of the Star Wars Expanded Universe, Bryan writes science fiction plays and listens to podcasts.
His adult life consists of trying to do too much at one time and failing hilariously.
An avid reader and theatre imagineer, Bryan hopes to live long enough to see the first interstellar mission ever launched by humanity.
Josh Hoover – Staff Writer
Stay tuned for my bio!
Justin Miller – Contributing Author
Justin is an avid movie buff and lover of all genres of film. From romance to horror, he will sit through any film at least once. He especially love movies that are so bad they somehow become good, like Manos the Hands of Fate, and The Room. A huge fan of Rifftrax and MST3K, he became interested in doing reviews of those all-so-awful films and more. He is also a huge fan of animation, especially Disney and Miyazaki; to him there is nothing is more satisfying then a well-animated movie.
