Loot Crate is a monthly subscription box filled with 6-8 pieces of epic geek and gamer gear, typically curated around a theme or mash-up with a guaranteed value of $40+. The crate is $13.37 + shipping, and I hope that touch is not lost on subscribers.
I’ve been subscribing for about two years at this point, though for the last six months or so I’ve been hemming and hawing over whether it is still worth my while.
I used to feel a little thrill while opening my crates, knowing I was getting a box packed full of carefully curated surprises. Then, Loot Crate started filling their boxes with Loot Crate Exclusives, oftentimes cheaply made items that were shoehorned to fit the theme and stamped with the Loot Crate logo.
Probably the most disappointing was a shield-shaped screen cleaner – does anyone even use those things?
